The E36 is a great car. after owning a 318, i can say it does get excellent gas mileage. the lack of power might get to you after a few months. i do alot of highway driving and i can recall several instances where the 189hp of a 325 would be more desireable. but to each his own, the 318 is definitely the gas saving machine.E36 318i 1993 - Question about reliablity. I want to buy E36 318i from 1993. But how reliable are they, most have 300.000 kilometers here. As you're talking km I guess you're looking at an 8 valve M40 car, not the excellent M42 16 valve found in US sedans. M40 isn't a great engine.
