Not just because of the higher engine stress from a tune, but also from the type of driver a tuned car tends to have. That's the only reason I'd want to know if the car is flagged if I were buying an out of warranty Audi. The 3.0 V6 is a reliable engine, but it’s also quite high mileage.

One benefit, at least from a performance perspective, is that the Q5 TDI uses the same V6 that’s used in mine. Meaning that 406 pound feet of torque is offered to you in a smaller, lighter package then it’s big sister

Nick_U. In my own opinion, having driven a 3.0Tdi, but have a 2.0tfsi on order (180bhp though), I would ithout hesitation say the 3.0tdi is best if money is no object. If I felt like dropping the extra few grand, I would have ordered the 3.0. The amount of miles I do each year precludes the extra expense really.
I know this is a little late, but I have an A6 with the 3.0 TDI engine. It's been a good car for me. In the winter I only average 32mpg, but it was only 5°F today. In the summer I can easily get 40-42mpg highway. If you used cruise control and drove very conservative you can do better. The range will open with a 2.0-litre turbocharged direct injection petrol engine (TFSi) with Audi's new fuel-saving valve lift system and a 2.0-litre turbodiesel (TDi). Those wanting more power can have a 3.0-litre V6 TDi diesel or the 3.2-litre V6 turbo petrol range topper. Diesel is expected to be 60 per cent of sales. SmfoV.
