My Yamaha MT-07 was stolen a couple ago and I'm not looking for a new bike with more power. I'm mostly eyeing a 2017-2020 MT-09 with 10k-20k KM (6k-12k Miles) or a MT-10 with 30k KM (18k Miles). They cost the same. I like the look of the MT10 way more but am really unsure because of the low fuel mileage.
Meanwhile, the 2021 MT-09 is an excellent liter-class naked bike which seems a LOT more attractive to me than the Z900 or Z900RS. The 2021 XSR900 seems less attractive at $9.5k since it carries on with the chassis, engine, and tech of the Gen-2 MT-09 making the XSR900 a 2021 model in name only. I do think that if you can find a way, do aftermarket suspension on the 09, it becomes an entirely different animal. Compared to the Euro naked liter bikes, the MT10 gives up some in performance.but not a lot and usually for $4000 - $5000 less. That difference could be meaningless depending on the rider.
It´s one of the big reasons that middleweight bikes like the FZ07 sell so well in Europe and the NC700/750 is everywhere. So at $8 a gallon and 50 mpg, it will cost you $160 to go 1000 miles. At 60mpg, it’s $133, or $27 less. Even if you rode 10,000 miles a year, it’s only $270 a year saving. yKt1.
