We both are sharing our favorite book from March. By the title you already know what book I will be sharing, Five Feet Apart! If there is one word that I could use to describe this book it would be powerful. Five Feet Apart told a story about two kids not giving up hope even when times were tough. The two main characters are Stella and Will.
“Five Feet Apart” is a story about two teens with cystic fibrosis, a chronic illness that causes mucus, sweat and digestive juices to become thick and plug up lungs and passageways. Stella (Haley Lu Richardson) is a perky, bright and tidy 17-year-old who vlogs about her condition that leaves her hospital-bound for long periods.
The Characters: It really surprised me how much depth there was to most of the character, given the book is only 276 pages. The majority of the characters seem to have light and shade to them, good qualities and bad. They feel like real people, struggling to deal with very real problems. Of course, Will and Stella aren't the only characters I guess that’s what adds all the “suspense’ to Five Feet Apart. I actually thought it was really cool that the book was very informative of the disease, such as the treatments, the consequences, what they must go through every day, etc. Plus, the two character POV really helped me identify the physical and psychological toll CF had on The power of Five Feet Apart lies in the emotions it evokes from the reader – emotions that are raw, intense, and impossible to escape. Every unfulfilled wish, every moment of uncertainty, every heart-wrenching thought of the worst possible outcome – all of these feelings overwhelm you as you journey through the pages of this book. Summary. In Chapter 4, Will has stayed up all night watching Stella's YouTube videos. In one video, Stella is singing with her father and Abby. Will notices Abby says, “Bushel and a peck” (51) to Stella, and he wonders what that means. Will contemplates his many hospital visits, and the drug trial he has been enrolled in at Saint Grace's In this #1 New York Times bestselling novel that’s perfect for fans of John Green’s The Fault in Our Stars, two teens fall in love with just one minor complication—they can’t get within a few feet of each other without risking their lives. mRqb.
